XIAO ESP32-S3 vs ESP32-C3: Which Compact IoT Board Fits Your Project?
Evidence-led comparison of Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32-S3 and XIAO ESP32-C3 for compact IoT, sensing and control projects.
Facts and editorial interpretation are intentionally separated.
| Criterion | Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32-S3 review | Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32-C3 (Pre-Soldered) review | Editorial interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Processor | Dual-core Xtensa LX7 up to 240 MHz | Single-core RISC-V up to 160 MHz | Compare firmware requirements against these processor specifications; clock and core count alone do not establish application performance. |
| Memory | 8 MB PSRAM + 8 MB Flash | 400 KB SRAM + 4 MB Flash | ESP32-S3 is the stronger choice when memory footprint is a concern. |
| Wireless | 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi + BLE 5.0 | 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi + BLE 5.0 | Both cover mainstream Wi-Fi/BLE IoT connectivity. |
| ADC channels | 9 ADC | 4 ADC | ESP32-S3 provides more analog-input flexibility for multi-sensor builds. |
| Dimensions | 21 x 17.8 mm | 21 x 17.8 mm | Board footprint is effectively the same for enclosure planning. |
| Verified price (2026-10-10) | USD 7.49 | USD 5.99 | Historical snapshot only: ESP32-C3 cost less on 2026-10-10. Check merchant pricing before purchase. |
Choose by your project constraints
For a firmware design that explicitly needs PSRAM or more documented analog inputs, consider the base S3. For a compact Wi-Fi/BLE node whose firmware and pin budget fit C3, consider C3 and compare current total cost. Neither choice is a measured performance or battery-life recommendation.
